About Me

Photo on 2010-11-28 at 22.01I am a parent. A traveler. An adventure-seeker. A homebody. Almost a recluse, really. I thrive on new experiences. I take comfort in time-worn traditions. I adore my family. I require time alone. I believe in honor. For a while, justice was like a religion to me. I strive to be compassionate and generous. I am needy and selfish. I like to win. Okay, I love to win. I’m really smart. I’m not as smart as you think I am. I believe that learning is one of the greatest joys in life. I don’t have a TV because it’s a waste of time. I watch lots of detective shows and police procedurals on my computer. I like plot twists. And the luxury of routine. I was a steak-eating, Southern Comfort-drinking smoker. I became a vegetarian, teetotaling, non-smoker. Then I had a massive heart attack at a surprisingly young age. Now I’m a vegan, teetotaling, non-smoker. I love church buildings, from epic cathedrals to tiny parishes. I was married by a Vodou priestess under an old oak tree at sunset in New Orleans. I worry about the environment and factory farming. I like leather jackets. I love punk rock. I love silence. I enjoy ambient, wordless music. I think Billy Bragg is a genius. I demand social justice. I detest when people feel entitled, especially to more than their share or for things they haven’t worked for.  I believe what many people consider handouts are, in fact, basic human rights.  I stand up for what I believe. I am an introvert and don’t like to draw attention to myself.

I am an exceptionally private person. I am writing a blog about my life.

People are complicated.
